Picasso at the Lapin agile
by Steve Martin
It is 1904 in Paris, and seated in a café are Albert Einstein
and Pablo Picasso discussing the achievements of the century, prospects
and topics of fancy. This meeting of these two geniuses (genii)
takes place just before Einstein’s announcement of his theory
of relativity and Picasso’s introduction to the art world
and his studies in cubism. Their table musings are interjected with
the outward thought of the café’s patrons, including
a surprise visitor from the future.
